What would be a good story set in England? I asked myself that question as I was researching potential plots for my next novel. Well, my question was answered once I started googling ideas for it—there are too many stories to tell. One hardly knows where to begin! The history of England of course goes back to ancient times, which I did know, but as I dug into events, timelines, people (royal and not royal) it is mind-boggling and inspiring. I think I have narrowed it down to one seminal event in the 20th century—won’t tell you now in case I change my mind-- which happens daily—but it is a place to jump off from into the world of storytelling! Who knows where my characters will go and what adventures they will face?

Excited to say that my publisher has sent a book cover proof to me and it is looking great! Really captures the essence of Heirloom I think and I can't wait to do a reveal of it soon!
This photograph speaks of nature, of promises, of sky and earth and the basics of life. Grape leaves reach up to the sky, stretching out to meet the clouds and the rainbow, promises of another harvest, another season. A recent storm has nourished the woody vines, deep-rooted, timeworn but abundant. They were created to offer up their fruit, pruned year in and year out by skilled hands to exploit them for their finest harvest. The fruit of the vine is promised—wine from the vines is promised. What better way to remind us of hope, constancy and faithfulness? Stay well and happy everyone!
This is a picture of my grandson, Brendon, fishing off the Virginia Beach Pier. It has a dreamy quality to it—relaxed, patient and wistful. There is nothing promised in the act of fishing. Even if the fish is your sustenance—the ocean will not always give it up to you. You must work for it—and wait for it—and be satisfied with what it gives you. Because even if it does not deliver a fish on the end of your line, it has given you treasured moments like this. To stand alone in your dreams and let the lapping of the waves against the pier silence you, with nothing on the horizon except the future.
There are always new places to go fishing. For any fisherman, there's always a new place, always a new horizon. Jack Nicklaus What a difference a couple of months make! On February 14, 2020 I sent my manuscript for Heirloom off to several publishers, hoping that I would have some interest. Six days later, I received an offer from Torchflame Books to publish my book! The book was written over the course of 18 years so it was wonderfully rewarding to get a quick response! I am so grateful to them and to my wonderful editor, Anna, who helped me make the book even better and I think it is one that you will enjoy! A launch date will be set soon and I will make sure I let you all know. This website is brand new, too, so I hope you all enjoy and come here often to catch up on the news about Heirloom and various and sundry other comments! Thank you all for your support and encouragement during this process-I couldn't have done it without you! I truly believe all things are possible so dream big!
